72, of Mansfield died peacefully at home on February 2, 2017, after a long illness, with his wife by his side, surrounded by family and friends.
He was the only son of William and Bernice (Smith) Beardsworth of Attleboro. Bill grew up in Pawtucket and as a young man served in the National Guard. Subsequently, he founded Sunfire Sounds Systems which showcased his talent by providing the sound for a myriad of venues including The Newport Jazz Festival.
After many years as an event sound engineer, Bill changed careers and began working as a biomedical technician and manager at Sturdy Memorial Hospital from where he retired in 2004, after 30 years of service. In the late 1990s, he also founded the Runaways Running Club in Mansfield.
Bill loved fishing, gardening, running and operating a ham radio.
He is survived by his wife, Irene (Romancier) Beardsworth, his in-laws, John and Judy Romancier, his lifelong friends, Jack and Cindy Kerkhoff and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A private graveside ceremony will be held.
