Anthony Venuto, Sr.,
94, of Quincy, died peacefully on January 11, 2017 surrounded by his family.
He was the devoted husband of seventy-one years to the late Evelyn (Martini) Venuto. Anthony was the loving son of the late Paul and Amalia Venuto of Braintree.
Anthony will be remembered most for his love and commitment to his family and his love of a good story, food, playing his harmonica, and a joke. Anthony was an edge trimmer at the Stride Rite shoe company in Boston for over 25 years. He also worked at E.T. Wright Shoe Company in Rockland. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II where he traveled to Germany and Africa. He was a member of the 355th Military Police Escort Guard, Camp Shelby, MS in 1943.
Anthony was the loving father of the late Rita (Venuto) DiBella of Quincy, Linda (Venuto) Zschau and her husband Gerard of Raynham, Anthony Venuto, Jr. and his wife Judith of Braintree, Deborah (Venuto) Vaughn and her husband Albert of Quincy, and Karen Venuto of Millis. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Anthony is survived by his sister Alice Falletti and the late Rocco Falletti of Hingham, his sister Flavia Romano and the late Dominic Romano of Braintree. He was predeceased by his brother James Venuto and sister Mary Venuto. Anthony also leaves behind his longtime friend Joseph Colabro of Hingham.
Funeral from the Bolea-Buonfiglio Funeral Home 116 Franklin St Quincy on Saturday, January 14th at 10 am.Graveside service to follow at Mount Wollaston Cemetery Quincy at 11 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be held at funeral home on Friday, January 13th from 5 to 8 pm.
