Thelma Agnes (White) Doucette,
86, of Bridgewater and formerly of Brockton, passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 6, 2016. She was the wife of the late Kenneth Doucette for 52 years. Born on July 17, 1930 in Brockton, MA, she was the loving daughter of the late Walter and Alice (Myniek) White. Thelma graduated from the Boston School for the Deaf in Randolph in 1948.
Thelma previously worked at the original Brockton Public Market and later Shaw’s for 20 years in the meat room. She was a member of the Quincy Deaf Club for over 50 years and in recent years, the South Shore Deaf Seniors and the Red Hat Club. She was an active member of the St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Basil’s Chapel Catholic communities. Thelma and her husband, Ken enjoyed traveling to many places like Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Alaska, the Caribbean to name only a few.
She was an avid fan of the Celtics, Red Sox and Patriots. Her beautiful smile was contagious and she had a passion for cooking, sewing, crossword puzzles, bowling, word searches, dancing, board games and so many other activities.
Thelma is survived by her three sons: Ken Doucette Jr. and his wife Kathy of Norton, Dennis Doucette and his wife Margot of Del Mar, CA, and Mark Doucette and his companion Lucia Acobo of Bridgewater. She was the loving sister of the late Phyllis (White) Bergman, loving sister-in-law to Peter Doucette of Fresno, CA, and Anne O'Brien of Reading, MA and the late John Doucette, Esther (Doucette) Amaru, Rena (Doucette) Arthur and Walter Doucette. She was the cherished Nana and Grandma of Michael Doucette, Tom Doucette, Darren Doucette, Adam Doucette, Lauren Doucette, Chanelle Doucette, Lucas Doucette, Ashlyn Doucette and Kendal Blank and great-Nana to Mikey Doucette. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from St. Basil’s Chapel, 122 Park Avenue, Bridgewater (on the campus of Bridgewater State University) on Thursday, November 10th, at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting Hours at the Bolea-Amici Funeral Home, 115 N. Main Street, Mansfield on Wednesday, November 9th, from 4:00-7:00pm. Interment in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Bridgewater, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Thelma’s memory to the New England Home for the Deaf, 54 Water Street, Danvers, MA.
