Kenneth "Pops" Poirier,
of Mansfield, husband of the late Elna C. (Peterson) Poirier, died at Norwood Hospital on Saturday, July 16, 2016. He was 95. Born in North Attleboro on August 22, 1920. He was the son of the late Rene and Veronica (Landers) Poirier.
Pops was a lifelong resident of Mansfield and attended Mansfield schools. He served in the U.S. Navy as an armed guard during World War II, receiving the World War II Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, European-African Theatre Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
For forty-six years he was employed as an iron worker with the former Belcher Mallable Iron Co of North Easton.
For many years, along with his late wife, he enjoyed boating with family and friends in Warwick, RI. Pops most enjoyed time spent with his family and friends.
He is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Robinson of Mansfield and a sister, Ruth Crapo of Culver City, CA. He was also father of the late Edith Demeule; brother of the late Vincent and Robert Poirier and grandfather of the late Penny Bollman.
His funeral will be held from the Bolea-Amici Funeral Home 115 North Main Street Mansfield on Wednesday, July 20th at 10 am. Graveside service to follow at St. Mary’s cemetery Mansfield at 11 am.
