Mary Jane Gordon

Mary Jane Gordon, 74, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully at Epoch Senior Living Center in Norton on May 3, 2016 surrounded by the comfort of family and friends. Born in Mansfield on June 6, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Lillian (Sampson) Gordon. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Ward Linfield for 12 years before he passed away in 1979.

The youngest of 10 children, Mary grew up in Mansfield and was a 1959 graduate of Mansfield High School. She has been a resident of Mansfield for 70 years before moving to Epoch Senior Living Center in Norton for the last 5 years. Mary was a customer service representative for several years with Chadwicks before retiring. She was parishioner of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church of Mansfield, and played in the bell choir. Mary was a loving and devoted Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, Mother-in-law and Great Grandmother and friend. She loved playing bingo and go on retreats with the church. Mary also liked to spend her time knitting, putting puzzles together and enjoying her time with her children and grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her two sons, Bruce Linfield and his wife of Harrisville, RI and Timothy Linfield and his wife Donnamaria of Attleboro; two siblings, Lillian (Gordon) Van Blarcom (widower of Earle Van Blarcom) of Middleboro and Lewis Gordon and his wife Candace of Fort Myers, Florida. Mary also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mary is also sister of the late Wallace Gordon Jr., Francis Gordon, Leslie Gordon, Arthur Gordon, James Gordon, Pearl (Gordon) Crichton and Ruth (Gordon) Boutin. She is also survived by her step-children, Larry Linfield, Steve Linfield, Heidi Linfield and Vincent Linfield.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her graveside service on Saturday, May 14 at 11 a.m. at the family lot in Rock Hill Cemetery, Foxboro. Calling hours are omitted.

The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations in Mary Jane Gordon's name may be sent to The Alzheimer's Association at 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, Ma 02472. Funeral arrangements are by the Bolea-Amici Funeral Home, Mansfield.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of the Epoch Senior Living Center for their excellent care and generosity to the family.
