of Quincy, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 10th at the age of 101, surrounded by his loving family.
Bruno was born, raised and educated in Quincy. He was the son of the late Josephine (Guerra) and Antonio Calderara. The devoted husband of the late Althea (Ashe) Calderara and the cherished father of Marnelle Ranta and her husband Glenn, Janice Tapper Beaton and her late husband William. The loving brother of the late Guido Calderara, Ida Abate and Pierina Gallo.
Prior to his retirement in 1985, Bruno was the proud owner of McKenna’s Woodworking Company. He was a valuable member of the Advisory Committee for Quincy Trade School, a member of the Sons of Italy and the South Quincy Bocce Club.
He and his wife enjoyed traveling to Puerto Rico, Europe, Virgin Islands, California, Las Vegas, Canada and winter vacations to Florida.
In his earlier years, Bruno and Althea enjoyed weekends dining and dancing with their closest friends. They enjoyed watching many Red Sox and Patriot games as well as taking numerous trips to Foxwoods Casino.
His true passion was his family of which he gave guidance, time and love but mostly he gave his heart.
He adored his 6 grandchildren Richard, David and Jamie Tapper, Jeffrey and Amy Ranta and Pamela Doran. He was also blessed to have had 15 great grandchildren Alexandra, Sophia, Katherine and Madison Tapper, Shane, Ryan, Cole and the late David Matthew Tapper, Kyle and Cameron Tapper, Ashley and Josh Ranta, Sarah, Christopher and Andrew Doran. He was also a devoted Uncle to many caring nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday, January 14th from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Bolea-Buonfiglio Funeral Home, 116 Franklin St., Quincy. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 15th at 10 a.m. at Saint John’s Church, 44 School St., Quincy, followed by interment in Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
