David J. Piccolomini,
of Mansfield, died Tuesday, December 22nd, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 80 years old and the husband of Patricia (Love) Piccolomini. Born in the North End of Boston on February 3, 1935, he was the son of the late Michael and Palma (Fasano) Piccolomini.
David was a lifelong resident of Mansfield and was the youngest student graduating from Mansfield High School at age fifteen. He then graduated from Massasoit with an Associate's Degree in Business Administration. He received a full scholarship to U/Mass Amherst for football but decided not to go, instead he joined the U.S. Navy, serving his country from 1954 to 1978, retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He fought both in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. His decorations include Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Cold War Medal, Good Conduct Award (5) and Naval Reserve Medal
Upon his retirement, he was employed by Stone & Webster Engineering Co. of Boston as a Human Resource Manager. He was an avid sports fan.
His survivors include two sons, Michael Piccolomini of Mansfield and Patrick Piccolomini and his wife Sue of Attleboro; two daughters, Shawn O'Sullivan and her husband Daniel of Mansfield and Erin Fiorillo and her husband David of Norton; six grandchildren, Jessica Felton, Jay Therrain, Julianne O'Sullivan, Ana Fiorillo, Joey and Anthony Fiorillo; three great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral mass Monday, Dec. 28th at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 330 Pratt Street (Rte. 106) Mansfield. Burial at St. Mary's Cemetery, Mansfield. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be held at the Bolea-Amici Funeral, 115 N. Main St. Mansfield on Sunday, Dec. 27th from 1 to 4 p.m.
