Melvin F. Pforr,
of Quincy died Wednesday, November 11 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was 94 years old and the beloved husband of the late Mildred (Cafferelli) Pforr for 63 years.
Born in Augusta County, VA on September 26, 1921, he was the loving son of the late Lee S. & Fannie B. Pforr. Mr. Pforr served as a Boatswain’s Mate 1st Class in the United States Navy during WWII for 3 years. He was a longtime Service Manager for the Fore River Lincoln-Mercury Dealership and Quincy Motors, both formerly of Quincy and was a member of the K.O.C. In N. Quincy.
Mr. Pforr was the loving father of Melvin Pforr of Weymouth, Wayne Pforr of Pembroke, Brian Pforr of CA and Charlene Murray of VA. He was the cherished grandfather of 8, great-grandfather of 7 and the dear brother of Maggie Sutton of VA.
Funeral from the Bolea-Buonfiglio Funeral Home, 116 Franklin Street, Quincy on Tuesday November 17 at 9am. Followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John’s Church, 44 School Street in Quincy at 10am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4-8p. Interment in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery.
