Robert F. Cherubini,
formerly of Milton, passed away Thursday, February 26th at home in Naples, FL surrounded by his loving family. He was 89 years old and the beloved husband of Dorothy (Salvi) Cherubini.
Born in Quincy on January 1, 1926, he was the loving son of the late Carl & Barbara (Corti) Cherubini.
Mr. Cherubini graduated from Boston College High School, Boston College and served in the United States Army during WWII where he received a Battle Star for the Italian Theatre. He was the Owner & Operator of Quincy Adams/Chiminiello Oil Co. and Quincy Adams Garden Centers until retiring to Naples, FL in 1985. He was an avid golfer and longtime member of the South Shore Country Club in Hingham. He loved traveling the world with his wife and treasured spending time with his children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
Mr. Cherubini was the loving father of Mary Jay Cherubini of Hanover, Robert W. Cherubini & his wife Virginia (Jones) of Marshfield, Peter J. Cherubini & his wife Joanne (Falzone) of N. Weymouth, Barbara A. Johannesen & her husband Arthur of Scituate, Dorothy R. Shawkey & her husband Michael of Rockland, the late Carl D. Cherubini, and father in law of Marion (Harlamert) Cherubini of Marshfield. He was the cherished grandfather of Jason Cherubini, Elizabeth Nelson, Kristen Collins, Matthew Johannesen, Adam and Peter Cherubini, Carly Shawkey, great-grandfather of Owen & Ryan Collins and the dear brother of the late Edward & Walter Cherubini.
A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Jerome’s Church, 632 Bridge Street, Weymouth on Friday, March 6th at 10:30am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Bolea-Buonfiglio Funeral Home, 116 Franklin Street, Quincy on Thursday from 4-8pm. Interment in Blue Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Cherubini’s memory to the Italian Home for Children, 1125 Centre Street, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
