Lawrence J. Bertrand, Sr.,
a lifelong resident of Quincy, died Sunday December 21 at home after a brief illness. He was 93 years old and the beloved husband of the late Josephine V. (O’Brien) Bertrand for 60 years.
Born in Quincy on November 4, 1921, he was the loving son of the late Julius & Martha (Livarga) Bertrand.
Mr. Bertrand was a graduate of Quincy High School Class of 1939. He completed the Apprentice Electrician Program at the former Bethlehem Steel Shipyard in Quincy. He served in the United States Navy during WWII from 1943-1946. He then worked as a Repairman for New England Telephone for 40 years. He was a parishioner of St. Mary’s church and enjoyed the love of many friends & his large extended family.
Mr. Bertrand was the loving father of David W. Bertrand & his wife Barbara of Quincy, Stephen L. Bertrand & his wife Laura of Pocasset, Donald J. Bertrand & his wife Kathy of Milton, Mary E. Stewart & her husband Grant of Dumfries, VA, Vincent C. Bertrand & his wife Debbie of W. Roxbury, Julius F. Bertrand of Quincy, Anthony F. Bertrand & his wife Donna of Quincy, Michael C. Bertrand of Quincy, Nancy E. Bertrand of Quincy, Veronica & her spouse Susan Cullen of Quincy, Anne R. Akoury & her husband Tony of Quincy, Winifred M. Bertrand of Quincy and Lawrence J. Bertrand Jr. & his wife Yaneth of Reston, VA. He was the cherished grandfather of 32, great-grandfather of 16 and dear brother of the late Wilbert and Harold Bertrand.
Arrangements being made by the Bolea-Buonfiglio Funeral Home, 116 Franklin Street in Quincy. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Mary’s Church in Quincy on Tuesday, December 23rd at 10am. Visiting hours were omitted. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
