of Quincy, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. He was 74 years old and the beloved husband of Patricia (Gillis) DeThomaso for 48 years. Born in Quincy on February 15, 1940, he was the loving son of the late Rocco J. & Helen A. (Chiavaroli) DeThomaso.
Mr. DeThomaso was a graduate of Quincy High School Class of 1957 and Owner & Operator of Rocco and Sons Barbershop where he had worked since 1958. He was a member of the Braintree Rod & Gun Club and a former member of the Braintree Sons of Italy. He was a musician for many years in a former local band and enjoyed boating with his family.
Mr. DeThomaso was the loving father of Lauren, Tina, Debbie and Denise. He was the cherished grandfather of Nicole, Andrew, Matthew, Michael, Anthony, the late Nicholas and great-grandfather of Tyler & Mason. He was the dear brother of Danny, Dominic, Richard and the late Robert.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John's Church, 44 School Street, Quincy on Wednesday, April 23rd at 10am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Bolea-Buonfiglio Funeral Home, 116 Franklin Street, Quincy on Tuesday from 4-8 pm. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. DeThomaso's memory to the American Red Cross, 274 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02116 or the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215.
