Irene M. "Maria L." (Cirillo) Calabro,
peacefully entered eternal rest Saturday, August 3rd at home. She was 96 years old and the beloved wife of the late Joseph Calabro.
Born in Quincy on November 4, 1916, she was the loving daughter of the late Luigi and Nancy (DiGenerio) Cirillo. After the loss of her loving husband, she moved to Texas to live with her daughter Nancy Pearce and her husband Richard.
Irene devoted her life to her family instilling strong ethics, values, and principles. Through her guidance and strength, her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren were blessed with the passion and resilience to achieve immense personal & professional success in all their endeavors. Irene embraced life fully & everything she did was done to perfection.
In addition to nurturing her children with motherly love, she was employed by many companies, i.e., Enterprise Co. of Quincy, supervisor in a mail/advertising co. and then as a cosmetologist for Osco & Hurley Drug. Her favorite days were days spent with her grandchildren & great grandchildren, hugging, laughing, and playing games. She was a member of The Legion of Mary & Rosary Makers at her local church and donated pink scarves for mutual breast cancer survivors. She enjoyed playing bingo, knitting, playing cards, and breaking bread with family & friends that were blessed to enjoy her gourmet Italian culinary delights.
Irene will always be remembered in our family for her legacy; and her unconditional love will live on for generations. The family would like to express special thanks to A-Med Community Hospice for their professional care, support and compassion.
Mrs. Calabro was the loving mother of Thomas Calabro and his wife Arlene of Florida & Nancy Pearce and her husband Richard of Texas. She was the cherished grandmother of Richard and Lisa Pearce of Mansfield and Dr. Steven Abbate and his wife Bonnie of Texas, great-grandmother of Steven, Billy, Richie & Annie and a soon to be great-great grandchild.
