Alfonso Cacciatore

Alfonso Cacciatore, of Quincy died at home on Thursday April 18 after 85 years of a hard working life. Mr. Cacciatore was the husband of Caterina (Gandolfo) Cacciatore for 57 years.

Born in Aragona, Sicily on April 20, 1928, Mr. Cacciatore was the son of the late Carmelo and Giovanna (Sciortino) Cacciatore. He worked for most of his life as a farmer in Italy. In 1970, at the age of 42, he immigrated to Quincy with his wife and four sons, to provide a better life for his family. At that point in his life, Mr. Cacciatore was uneducated and did not know the English language. His years of hard work and dedication allowed him to start up his own business, Cacciatore and Sons Paving Co. of Quincy.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Cacciatore is survived by his sons, Carmelo Cacciatore and his companion Linda, Giuseppe Cacciatore, Stefano Cacciatore and Giovanni Cacciatore and his wife Kristine. He is the grandfather of Alphonso, Caterina, John, Domenic, Gianna, Cecelia, Sophia, Giovanni Jr., and the late Carmelo Jr. Mr. Cacciatore is also survived by four great-grandchildren.

His funeral will be from the Bolea-Buonfiglio Funeral Home, 116 Franklin St., Quincy on Tuesday April 23 at 10am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph's Church, 550 Washington St., Quincy at 11am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours are Monday 4-8pm. Interment in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In Lieu of flowers, donations in Alfonso's memory may be made to St. Joseph Church, 550 Washington St., Quincy, MA 02169.
