Frank T. Cordes,
a longtime resident of Braintree, passed away Sunday, April 7, at home surrounded by his loving family after a brave battle with gleo blastoma. He was 60 years old and the beloved husband of Linda (DeNicola) Cordes for 20 years. Born in Chelsea, March 18, 1953, he was the loving son of the late Thomas C. and Lorraine (Garvey) Cordes.
Mr. Cordes spent most of his life in Wisconsin and served in the U.S. Army for seven years in food preparation. He worked as a chef for a food service company at Northeastern University for 18 years and then served as Food Service Director at Sunrise of Arlington.
Frank had a passion for helping people in need and devoted a lot of his time at Fr. Bill's Place and other institutions where he offered words of encouragement to those in need of someone to believe in them. He enjoyed cooking, playing guitar, vacationing in Aruba, working in the yard and most of all spending time with his loving family and many friends.
Mr. Cordes was the loving father of Christopher Cordes, Lindsey Cordes, Deanna Presutti and Kristen Presutti, all of Braintree. He was the cherished grandfather of Evan Presutti of Braintree. He was the dear brother of Michael Cordes and his wife Kathy of Illinois, Cheryl Hovda and her husband Mark of Wisconsin, Roy Cordes of Wisconsin and brother in law of Paula (DeNicola) Pompeo and her husband Fred of Florida and Dennis DeNicola and his wife Janice of Maine. He is also survived by his aunt, Irene (Martin) Zona of Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Bolea-Buonfiglio Funeral Home, 116 Franklin St., Quincy, Thursday, April 11, at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at St. Clares Parish, 1244 Liberty St., in Braintree, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Interment in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
