Catherine "Kay" Marie (Bongiovanni) O'Brien,
of Braintree, formerly of Weymouth and Quincy, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 29th after a brief illness at the Pope Nursing Home in Weymouth. She was 88 years old. She was the wife of the late Francis H. O'Brien. Born in Boston on June 6, 1924, she was the loving daughter of Domenic and Catherina (Insana) Bongiovanni.
Mrs. O'Brien worked as a Burner at the Hingham Shipyard during WWII, as a Stitcher & Sample Maker in the Boston Garment District and as a Hairdresser in Quincy for many years. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, and especially enjoyed visits from her grandchildren.
Mrs. O'Brien was the loving mother of Paul O'Brien and his wife Fran of Yarmouth, ME and Kenneth O'Brien and his wife Mary of Braintree. She was the cherished grandmother of Jeffrey O'Brien of Yarmouth, ME, Patricia O'Brien of Raleigh, NC, Jacqueline, Kate and Alison O'Brien of Braintree and great-grandson Finnegan. She was the dear sister of Domenic Bongiovanni and his wife Helen of Braintree.
Funeral from the Bolea-Buonfiglio Funeral Home, 116 Franklin Street, Quincy on Monday, December 3rd at 9:00am. Followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John's Church, 44 School Street, Quincy at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 5-8pm. Interment in Braintree Cemetery.
