Elio "Al" Bacchiocchi,
a lifelong resident of Mansfield, died Sunday, November 25 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was 86. Mr. Bacchiocchi was the husband of Shirley (Lennox) Bacchiocchi for 60 years.
Born in Mansfield on January 10, 1926, Mr. Bacchiocchi was the son of the late Luigi and Amalia (Mei) Bacchiocchi. He was a graduate of Mansfield High School and worked as the Assistant Building Inspector for the Town of Mansfield for 10 years. Mr. Bacchiocchi previously worked for the RD Smith Construction Company, formerly of Framingham, for many years.
He was a member of the Mansfield Elks, a former member of the Knights of Columbus and proudly served in the Army during WWII. Mr. Bacchiocchi enjoyed gardening, taking care of his yard and computers.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Bacchiocchi is survived by his children, Gail Gillis and her husband Steven of Norton, Paul and his wife Anne of Millis, David and his wife Marie of Attleboro and James and his wife Caren of Attleboro. He is the brother of Mary Graves of Wareham and Gino Bacchiocchi of Cumberland, RI. Mr. Bacchiocchi is also survived by seven grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Bolea-Amici Funeral Home, 115 North Main Street, Mansfield on Thursday, November 29 at 10am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours are Wednesday 4-8pm. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Mansfield.
