George Joseph Barry,
of Quincy, passed away on Friday, October 5th at the Marina Bay Skilled Nursing Facility. He was 88 years old. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Barry for 63 years.
Born in Cambridge on November 11, 1923 and raised in South Boston, George has been a resident at 1000 Southern Artery in Quincy for 16 years.
Mr. Barry worked as an Electrician for Massachusetts Electric from which he retired. Aside from being a loving husband he prided himself on being a devoted father and grandfather. He loved listening to the Irish Tenors, enjoying a fine cigar and playing golf. He was an incredible "handyman" who had a knack for repairs and renovations.
Mr. Barry is survived by his children Wanda Barry Garcia of Tampa, FL, Lorraine Barry of Scituate and George F. Barry Jr. of Tampa Fl. He was the cherished "papa" of Lindsay Garcia of Tampa, FL, Lauren Veneziano of Denver, CO and Marc Veneziano of Quincy. He will join his late wife, eldest son James Michael Barry, John Cameron, Mary Gilbert and many others who have loved him.
Arrangements being made by the Bolea-Buonfiglio Funeral Home, 116 Franklin Street in Quincy. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel at Archbishop Williams High School, 80 Independence Ave. in Braintree on Sunday October 7 at 1pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment will be private.
