Geraldine (Marcotte) Lemieux

Geraldine (Marcotte) Lemieux, of Mansfield, passed away on Saturday, September 22nd at Epoch of Norton. She was 95 years old. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry A. Lemieux for 61 years. Born in Providence, RI on December 30, 1916, she was the loving daughter of the late Ernest J. and Levany (Melancon) Marcotte.

Mrs. Lemieux graduated from the University of Rhode Island and later attended Stonehill College. She then worked for the United States Census Bureau in Washington, DC where she met her husband and was married in the National Cathedral. She later worked as an Accounting Officer for the Mansfield Municipal Electric Department where she served on the first committee to computerize the town’s records and later as a consultant when the department purchased their first computer. She retired in 1986 and went on to work for the computer animation software company Coddbarrett in RI and Vincent's Gallery in Mansfield.

She was an accomplished Artist in drawing, watercolor, and greeting cards with her work being exhibited at Vincent's Gallery as well as the Attleboro Arts Museum. She has resided in Mansfield since 1946 becoming an active parishioner at St. Mary's Church in the Catholic Women’s Club and the St. Mary's Rosary Group. She had a passion for travel, spending time with family at the summer home in Wolfeboro, NH and nurturing her many feline companions.

Mrs. Lemieux was the loving mother of Margo Lemieux Fisher of Mansfield, Suzanne Lemieux Wilson of LaCosta, CA, Paul Lemieux of Foxboro and David Lemieux of Mansfield. She was the cherished grandmother of Elisabeth Fisher, Richard Fisher, Colin Fisher, Rozi Lemieux Johnson, Julia Lemieux and great-grandmother of Holly Fisher, Cassidy Fisher, Daniel Atwood and Felix Lemieux Johnson. Her gentleness and enduring spirit will be sorely missed by all.

A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street (Rte. 106) in Mansfield on Tuesday September 25 at 11am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Bolea-Amici Funeral Home, 115 North Main Street in Mansfield, prior to Mass from 9:30-10:30am. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery.
