John V. Costello,
of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, September 9th. He was 80 years old. He was the beloved husband of Susan (Nadeau) Costello for 30 years.
Born in Woburn on May 9, 1932, he was the loving son of the late Joseph M. and Julia (Tracey) Costello. He was a Graduate of Winchester High School Class of 1950. Mr. Costello served in the United States Marine Corp. during the Korean War. He then graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1957 and then received his Master's Degree in Public Administration from Boston State College in 1981.
Mr. Costello helped to plan, develop and establish the Community College System in 1958, served as Executive Director of the Board of the Regional Community Colleges for 23 years and established an educational consulting firm, John V. Costello Associates, Inc., which provided counsel during the construction of the NSCC campuses in Lynn and Danvers.
Mr. Costello was the dear brother of the late James J. Costello.
Funeral from the Bolea-Amici Funeral Home, 115 N. Main Street, Mansfield on Friday September 14 at 9:45am. Followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John The Evangelist Church, 133 No. Main Street in Attleboro at 11am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday from 5-8pm. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Winchester will be private.
