James G. Melfie,
of Norton, formerly of Mansfield, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 25 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was 60 years old. Born in Attleboro on February 12, 1951, he was the loving son of the late Harry F. and Rose L. (Laudisio) Melfie.
He attended the Southeastern Regional School in Easton where he studied Auto Body Repair. He was raised in Mansfield and spent winters in Florida and his summers on Cape Cod prior to residing at the Old Colony Rest Home in Norton for the past 15 years.
He enjoyed attending the Hillside Adult Day Health Center in Attleboro for many years, particularly the Arts & Crafts sessions. Mr. Melfie loved spending time with his family and watching all sports, especially the Boston Red Sox.
Mr. Melfie was the dear brother of Mary T. Sabatos and her husband Ronald of Milan, Ohio, Isabelle A. Combis and her husband Paul of Mansfield, Harry D. Melfie and his wife Judy of Norton and Sheila L. Buck and her husband William of Mansfield. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, 330 Pratt Street (Rte. 106) in Mansfield on Monday January 30 at 10:30am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Bolea-Amici Funeral Home, 115 N. Main Street in Mansfield prior to Mass from 8:30-10:00am. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery.
