December 27, 2011

Rita Cavalieri, age 80, died December 27, 2011 at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida. Rita was born in Boston, MA on August 11, 1931 and has lived in Florida since 1979.

She was the loving daughter of the late Richard and Ruby Loftin and the devoted wife of Michael J. Cavalieri who pre-deceased her on Dec. 30, 2009.

If there was ever a perfect romance, it was Rita and Mike. Married more than 58 years, together they raised two beautiful and loving daughters, Janet (wife of Bernard Panto) and Michelle, and their most precious and courageous son, John, who died at the age of 9 in 1968. Rita also leaves behind four lovely granddaughters; Corinne, (William Hulett) Marie, (Russell Benedict) Michelle Panto and Brianna Cavalieri, as well as her great-grandchildren, Taylor and Michael.

She will be sorely missed for her outward beauty, her inner strength and her incredible cooking skills, by her family and many friends, including her dearest friends of some 50 years, Pat and Ted Drummond of Cape Cod. One of seven children, Rita leaves behind her sisters Helen, Margaret and Dorothy. Her sister Evelyn and brothers Donald and Richard pre-deceased her.

Funeral arrangements in Largo, Florida were made by Moss Feaster Funeral Home, with final arrangements in Quincy MA, by the Bolea Funeral Service.

The family will receive friends on Thursday Jan. 5, 2011 at the Bolea-Buonfiglio Funeral Home, 116 Franklin Street, Quincy from 5PM to 8PM, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John's Church, 44 School Street, Quincy at 10AM on Friday Jan. 6th, followed by interment at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy, MA.
