William E. Beaton,
of Quincy, died Wednesday, December 28 at Quincy Medical Center. He was 70 years old. He was the loving husband of Janice (Calderara, Tapper) Beaton.
Born in New York, NY on February 21, 1941, he was the loving son of the late Edward and Edna (Schroeder) Beaton.
Mr. Beaton was raised and educated in White Plains, New York. He was a Graduate of Denver University in Colorado where he played football all four years and was very proud to have played against former NFL player Merlin Olsen during their collegiate years. He later moved to Oregon, where he raised his children and met his life-long friends Mike Gray and his wife Marlene. One of his favorite past-times was spending one month each year with them on their ranch.
Bill was a Service Advisor at the former South Shore Buick in Quincy and most recently worked at Sentry South Lincoln from where he retired several years ago, yet remained as a valued part-time employee. He was a Little League Coach for 7 years and was named an "All-Star" Coach. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing and watching his beloved New York Yankees. Bill will always be loved and remembered for his tremendous sense of humor, generosity and enjoyment of life.
Mr. Beaton was the devoted father of Douglas Beaton and his wife Sammi of Oregon, Mark and his wife Allison of Michigan, Scott and his wife Kim, and Katy Noe and her husband Dan, all of Oregon. Devoted Step-Father of Richard Tapper (QPD) and his wife Jennifer (QPD) of Weymouth, David Tapper and his wife Maureen of Quincy and Jamie Tapper and his wife Suzanne of Braintree. He was the adoring Pa and Grandpa to 9 grandsons and 6 granddaughters, caring Son-in-law of Bruno and Althea Calderara of Quincy, Brother-in-law of Marnelle and Glenn Ranta of CT, and cousin of Ron and Arleen Mills of RI and Brenda and Fred Ouimette of NY. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Bolea-Buonfiglio Funeral Home, 116 Franklin Street, Quincy on Tuesday January 3 at 9am. Followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John's Church, 44 School Street, Quincy at 10am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 3-7pm. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Beaton's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
