Thomas A. "Pete" White,
of Quincy, died Friday, November 18 at home surrounded by his family. He was 80 years old. Mr. White was the loving husband of Genevieve (DeRosa) White and former spouse of Carol White of San Diego, CA.
Born in Manhattan, NY on February 23, 1931, Mr. White was the son of the late Donald B. and Elizabeth (Santosuosso) White. Mr. White was a graduate of Quincy High School Class of 1949. After living in Quincy he moved to California and joined the USMC. He spent 23 years in the Marine Corps and served two tours in Vietnam as a Captain. While in Okinawa, Mr. White helped start a Baseball Little League. He also graduated from San Diego State University where he earned a degree in Education. He taught Elementary and High School English and Spanish and returned to Quincy in 1993. He was a member of the American Legion Post 294, Morrisett Post, Quincy Sons of Italy and the Braintree Golf Club.
In addition to his wife and former spouse, Mr. White is survived by his four children, Stephen White and his wife Claire of Irvine, CA, Laura White of San Diego, CA, Julie White of San Diego, CA, and Paul White of Cheno Valley, AZ. He was the loving grandfather of Makena and Cameron White of CA, and the brother of Donald B. White of Littleton, CO, William White of Lompoc, CA, and the late Maryellen Hartshorn. Mr. White is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be from the Bolea-Buonfiglio Funeral Home, 116 Franklin St., Quincy on Tuesday Nov. 22 at 9am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 95 Crescent St., Quincy at 10am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours are Monday 4-8pm. Interment will be held privately in the VA National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. White's memory to the St. Mary's Church Building Fund, 95 Crescent St., Quincy, MA 02169.
