Patsy J. Tartufo,
a lifetime resident of Mansfield, died Monday September 19 at the VA Hospital in Brockton. He was 100 years old. Mr. Tartufo was the loving husband of the late Doris (Rodgers) Tartufo.
Born in Mansfield on August 13, 1911, Mr. Tartufo was the son of the late Angelo and Maria (Marrone) Tartufo.
In 1943, he served as an Automatic Rifleman in the US Army during WWII and was stationed in Italy and France as a member of the 157th Infantry, 45th Thunderbird Infantry Division. He returned home in 1944 after being wounded.
Mr. Tartufo later worked as a Machinist at the Cards Tap and Die Co., formerly of Mansfield, and also at the Foxboro Company. Mr. Tartufo was recently honored with the Boston Post Cane for being Mansfield's oldest living resident.
Mr. Tartufo is survived by his son John Tartufo and his wife Monica of Bishopville, Maryland. He was the grandfather of Bethany Ramey and Ashley Tartufo and the great-grandfather of Caroline. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Bolea-Amici Funeral Home, 115 North Main Street, Mansfield on Thursday September 22 from 9am - 10am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 330 Pratt St., (Rte. 106) Mansfield at 10:30am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Mansfield.
