Thomas E. Rice,
of Quincy, died Sunday, June 26 at South Shore Hospital. He was 88 years old. He was the beloved husband of the late Muriel F. (White) Rice.
Born in Connecticut on August 1, 1922, he was the loving son of the late Philip J. and Sarah (Moran) Rice. He was a Graduate of Roslindale High School.
Mr. Rice served in the United States Army during WWII and then served as a Civilian Employee for the Department of the United States Navy as a Systems Analyst for 37 years. After Retirement, he worked for Honeywell Corp. in Billerica for 10 years. He, along with his wife, was a former member of the Quincy Tennis Club.
Mr. Rice was the loving father of Christopher Rice, Thomas Rice, Philip Rice and his wife Kathe, James Rice and his wife Rita, Cathy Flockton and her husband Bruce, John Rice and his wife Joanne, Joseph Rice and his wife Abbe, Elizabeth Kilty and her husband Jay and the late Ann Marie Rice-Lowry. He was the cherished grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and his dear friend, Anne Fraser.
A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. John's Church, 44 School Street, Quincy on Friday July 1 at 10am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held at the Bolea-Buonfiglio Funeral Home, 116 Franklin Street, Quincy on Thursday from 4-8pm. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Rice's Name to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
