Henry Plante, Sr.,
of Westport, formerly of North Attleboro, died Friday, February 25th at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford. He was 99 years old. He was the beloved husband of the late Electra D. (Scalvini) Plante for 57 years.
Born in Pawtucket, RI on April 1, 1911, he was the loving son of the late Elzear and Clara (Deshaitres) Plante. Mr. Plante worked as a Union Carpenter and was a member of the N.E. Council of Carpenters, the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local #535. After living in North Attleboro for 45 years, he moved to Westport in 1996 to live with his daughter and son-in-law. He was a member of the Westport Council on Aging for many years, and was always being honored for being the oldest guest at events. He loved to sing, and exercised his lungs constantly at most functions as he truly socialized with everyone right to the end. He will be missed by many.
Mr. Plante was the loving and devoted father of Barbara C. (Plante) Morin and her late husband Joseph F. Morin Jr., whom he survived by only 8 weeks, and the late Henry Plante Jr. He was the cherished grandfather of Michelle Bowers of Maineville, OH, Lori Riley of Cincinnati, OH, Wendy Montgomery of Centerburg OH, Krista McCormick of Highland Ranch, CO., 5 great-granddaughters and 3 great-grandsons. He was the dear brother of Eugene Plante of N. Attleboro, Helena Farrell of N. Attleboro and the late Alfred Plante. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Bolea-Amici Funeral Home, 115 N. Main Street, Mansfield on Thursday March 3rd at 9:30am. Followed by a Funeral Mass at St, Mary's Church, 330 Pratt Street (Rte. 106) Mansfield at 10:30am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours are being held on Wednesday from 4-7pm. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery.
