Jean L. (Macomber) Swan of Mansfield, formerly of Hyde Park, died Monday May 24 from lung cancer at Epoch Senior Healthcare in Norton. She was 76 years old.
Born in Boston on June 13, 1933, she was the loving daughter of the late Edward F. and Anna B. (Walsh) Macomber. Jean grew up in South Boston prior to moving to Hyde Park in 1967 where she resided until 2010 when she moved in with her son Paul in Mansfield. Jean was a long time Congressional Aide to the late Congressman Joe Moakley until her retirement in March of 1995. She worked in Congressman Moakley's Boston office as a Social Security Liaison and also served as Joe's Fundraising Coordinator on his re-election campaigns.
Mrs. Swan is survived by her children, Paul Swan and his wife Joan of Mansfield, Richard Swan and his wife Nancy of Roslindale and Jean Swan of Milford. She was the cherished grandmother of Timothy, Brian, Christina and Edward. She was the loving sister of the late Edward Swan, Lorraine Karem, William Macomber, Dorothy Morico, Catherine Royal, Eleanor Donnelly and Anna Macomber.
A Funeral Mass is being celebrated at St. Pius X Church, 101 Wolcott Road, Milton, MA on Friday May 28 at 9am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours being held at the Bolea-Amici Funeral Home, 115 N. Main Street, Mansfield on Thursday from 5-8pm. Interment in Mt. Benedict Cemetery in West Roxbury.
