Carmela T. (Chiminiello) Pollara of Norwell, formerly of Quincy, died Wednesday January 13 at the Marina Bay Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Quincy. She was 82 years old. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony R. Pollara (Q.P.D.) for 50 years.
Born on January 31, 1927 in Quincy, she was the loving daughter of the late Domenic and Madeline (Pecce) Chiminiello. Mrs. Pollara was a graduate of Quincy High School and Fisher Junior College. She was the former Manager of the Quincy College Book Store and a member of the South Humarock Civic Association. Mrs. Pollara was raised and lived in Quincy until moving to Norwell 10 years ago. She grew up in a bowling family and was an avid bowler herself, bowling in several leagues and teams such as the South Shore Bowlerettes and The Eagles. She also enjoyed spending her summers in Humarock over the past 45 years.
Mrs. Pollara is survived by her children, Robert A. Pollara and his wife Rosemary of E. Bridgewater, Ronald J. Pollara and his wife Lesley of Hingham, Stephen M. Pollara and his wife Elizabeth of Marshfield and Donna M. Martin of Norwell. She was the cherished grandmother of 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. She was the loving sister of Joseph Chiminiello of Lunenburg and the late Robert Chiminiello.
Funeral from the Bolea-Buonfiglio Funeral Home, 116 Franklin Street, Quincy on Saturday January 16 at 9am. Followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church, 550 Washington Street, Quincy at 10am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting Hours are Friday 4-8pm. Interment in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Pollara's memory to the Anthony R. Pollara Scholarship Fund, C/O Quincy Credit Union, 100 Quincy Avenue, Quincy, MA 02169.
