John Gavegnano of Quincy, formerly of East Boston, died Saturday May 22 at the Braintree Manor Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. He was 89 years old.
Born in Boston on March 12, 1921, he was the loving son of the late Joseph and Jennie (Coriani) Gavegnano. Mr. Gavegnano served in the United States Army during WWII. He served as a Technical Sergeant in the Pacific Theater as well as took part in the Liberation of the Philippines. He was also a Baker and the former owner of the Quality Baking Company in East Boston. Mr. Gavegnano was a member of the V.F.W.
Mr. Gavegnano is survived by his children, Philip Gaven and his wife Estrella of Abington, Claudia Giglio of Hanover and Peter Gaven of Quincy. He was the cherished grandfather of Michael, Justin, Kendra, Kyle, Alex and Jared.
Visiting Hours being held at the Bolea-Buonfiglio Funeral Home, 116 Franklin Street, Quincy on Thursday May 27 from 5-8pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment will be private in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody with full Military Honors.
