Lea N. Aspesi of Quincy died Friday November 26 at the Weymouth Healthcare Center. She was 100 years old.
Born in Barre, VT on November 4, 1910, she was the loving daughter of the late Giusto and Maria (Ferrario) Aspesi. She graduated from Burdette College and went on to found four companies with her long time friend and Co-Owner Robert Cobham. These companies included Stainless Pipe and Fitting Co. and Cambridge Nipple Corp. She served as Treasurer of the companies until Mr. Cobham's passing in 1976, after which she continued on as President/Treasurer until her retirement. Lea was a professional Business Woman before it was “fashionable”. She was the first female recipient of The Woman of the Year award from the Don Orien Society, in recognition of her charitable contributions. Despite her successful business career, she will be remembered most for her loyalty, kind peaceful nature and her love for her family and friends.
Ms. Aspesi was the dear sister of late Olga Battistini. She was the Sister-in –law of the late Fausto Battistini. She is survived by her cousins, Louise Mariani of Cape Coral, Fl. and Braintree and Wayna (Millard) Drinkwater of Hingham as well as her extended family, Linda Poulin of Braintree, Allan (Sharon) of ME., Susanne (Russell) Arvidson of Hampton, NH., Ned and Roberta Sorensen of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., Justine Kanyike of Quincy Dawn Johnson of Hanson and Helena Mongo of Quincy.
Arrangements being made by the Bolea-Buonfiglio Funeral Home, 116 Franklin Street, Quincy. A funeral Mass is being celebrated at St. John's Church, 44 School Street, Quincy on Wednesday December 1 at 10am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to Mass from 8:30-9:30am. Interment in Blue Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ms. Aspesi's memory to Fr. Bill's Place, 38 Broad Street, Quincy, MA 02169.
